Eiheiji Temple: Spirit of Dogen

Eiheiji Temple is a Zen monastery founded by the Zen monk Dogen in 1244. Even now, more than 770 years since its founding, the ascetic training here is said to be the most rigorous in the Soto school of Zen. About 160 ascetic monks called “Unsui” are engaged in strict training here.
