Rokuonji (Kinkakuji)

Three-story pavilion, with pyramid style roof, constructed in 1397 by shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu.  A Buddhist statue of the god of fire, believed to have been made by Kobo Daishi, is enshrined there, and is revealed for public exhibition only during the Setsubun festival and the Daimonji Festival.
