Wadanoya, Japanese confectioner

When Hachisuka Iemasa, the first lord of the Tokushima domain, constructed Tokushima Castle in 1585, the confectionery “Taki no Yakimochi” was given to the lord as a token of celebration.  The lord was very glad that he granted the confectioner permission to use Kinryo-sui (Kinryo water), and “Taki no Yakimochi” started to enjoy a reputation as the lord’s favorite.  Today, the confectionery continues to deliver the same wonderful taste, over 400 years later.
