YAKUSHIMA
Known for its beautiful natural environment, 90% of the island is made up of forests.
The “Jomon Sugi” (famous ancient Japanese cedar tree) was discovered in 1966, and approximately 21% of the island’s area (107.47 square kilometers) is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Miyanouradake (1,936 meters), and the extensive Yakusugi cedar forests.
